- When we consider the significance of the Customs section or department and its role at SEEPZ-SEZ given its export-oriented nature, the Customs section has a significant role in any land or seaport as there are certain rules and regulations governing the imports/ exports of the country and we are the prime agency enforcing these laws.
- However, at SEEPZ-SEZ, we play the role of a facilitator rather than a regulator, implementing the SEZ Act and the SEZ rules in letter and spirit.
- The policy prevalent in SEZ is of promoting exports and we allow clearances with a minimum of interference and in the minimum time possible.
- In fact, the clearance time for import and export, right from assessment to clearance is within hours and not days, ensuring that the consignments are not held up even for a single day because of Customs procedures.
